Also Deion Sanders and Pudge used the boat for AT & T Home Turf. Look for Purple Haze in the new Cigarette brochure and look for Dennis on the Poker Runs.

Frank Zammiello goes big for his 5th new Lip-Ship Edition. A 46’ Rough Rider powered by Merc 1075s. Early testing results 118 mph. A new color combination looks “very classy”. “Twisted” will make her debut at the 07 Miami Boat show and to be featured in the 07 Cigarette brochure.

New 20’ Cigarette

Dino Cancilliari commissioned Lip-Ship Performance to build him the first new 20’ Cigarette in a decade. Cigarette Racing Team known thru out the world for custom building the finest quality boats, laid up the hull and deck. Lately the trend has been Bigger is Better, with 3 custom 50’ Cigarettes just being completed.

Phil said the quality of this new 20’ is just unbelievable. Neill laid up this boat with all the new technology and new materials just like all the new Cigarettes being built today. The rigging was done at Lip-Ship. Paint by Grafik Worx and upholstery by Fine Line Interiors. Layout, setup, and testing was done by Lip-Ship. The 20’ Cigarette is powered by Mercury 496 HO with a Bravo I and IMCO lower. A top speed of just over 77mph was achieved and “She drives like a dream” said Phil.

This is the 11th Cigarette Dino has purchased from Lip-Ship in 20 years of doing business together. “What can I tell you, the man knows quality!”

COMING SOON "LOST COWBOY"

Wesley Boies 39 Top-Gun Unlimited Lip-Ship Edition powered by Merc 700s!

LIP-SHIP PERFORMANCE WELL REPRESENTED AT LEOPA FALL POKER RUN

Mitch Rudolph took delivery of his new 46’ Rough Rider at the LEOPA Poker Run. This is the boat that won Power Boat magazine “Offshore Boat of the Year in 2002”. She’s powered by fresh Zul 1000 h.p. and ran flawless. The crew Marissa and Phil, Mitch Rudolph, John Matesik, Todd Redenshek, and Little Lippy had a blast. This is Mitch’s 4th Lip-Ship Edition Cigarette. Mitch is from Cleveland, Ohio. Look out Lake Eire!

Tom Abraham, out of New York also in attendance with his “World Famous Maximus”, powered by “Big Old Zul’s”. Tom, always “Out Front” and ready to go. “What are we going to do now??”

Dino Cancilliari with his new 39 Top-Gun Unlimited, powered by Zul 700s. This is the boat that won the “2005 Powerboat magazine offshore boat of the year”. Dino’s 10th Lip-Ship Edition Cigarette, was a real crowd pleaser and the pace boat. How’s that for loyalty?

Scott Cancilliari ran super strong in his 38 Top-Gun Lip-Ship Edition powered by Zul’s. This was Pudge’s Top-Gun as seen in Sport Illustrated and ESPN. Scott put on an acrobatic display himself, trying to imitate Nascars Carl Edwards doing back flips off his boat.

It was a great run, a lot of fun. The stops in Detroit Yacht club and Ford Yacht club, with all the boat racing history means a lot to the Lip-Ship crew. Driving past GM Headquarters, under the Ambassador Bridge, and around Belle Isle, home of the Gold Cup and many Indy car races is really cool! The LEOPA Poker Runs are the best and always a ton of fun.

MAYHEM III

Eric and Peter Filardi just took delivery of their third Lip-Ship Edition Top-Gun. Their newest Top-Gun is a very special boat, not only is it a Lip-Ship Edition, but this is the last real Top-Gun made, Hull# 38-634. Phil said “ In late 1986 while working for Ron Doller, we sold the first Top-Gun ever built. I had to buy the last Top-Gun. In my opinion it’s the nicest one ever. The detail on this boat is awesome. Working with Neill (Cigarette Racing) on this project, was a lot of fun.” Neill came up with a cabin that looks like a corporate jet. Phil wanted a molded in windscreen and Neill came through. Many of the special touches on this boat are now standard on the 06 Top-Gun GT.

The Filardi’s bought their first Top-Gun from Lip-Ship Performance in 2002, a 1999 experimental Top-Gun with notched strakes and the first boat with a lighter lay-up, vacuum bagged, and foam stringers, 502/415HP. This boat ran 70 mph. Fast for the day.

Their second was a new beautiful 04 Lip-Ship Edition Top-Gun TS

Lip-Ship is proud to have the Filardi’s as part of the team. I think its really great to see a father and son having so much fun together. It reminds me of boating with my dad, when I was just a little kid. Speeding up and down the Ohio River in his wood Chris Craft run-about. I wish I could go boating with my dad now in a new Cigarette!

Look for Eric and Peter in South Florida in the winters and in Connecticut in the summers. We’ve just got one question for them. What’s next, a 39 Unlimited with staggered 600’s?

For the love of boats – Spinnaker Marina

Sunday 11/21/04. John Tomlinson captured his 14th World Championship in a hard fought battle in Key West.

Monday morning Johnny was seen on top of Indy Car Legend Paul Tracy’s “Lick This” washing the boat. Later that day both were out testing and trying different props. The guy never stops.

The only thing that would make this picture better is if they were on top of a Cigarette. But I’m working on it!

Lip-Ship Edition Cigarette Three-Peat

Again, it was a Lip-Ship Edition Cigarette owner who placed in the top three at Fitzgerald Motorsports 2003 Performance Boat Show held in Laconia, New Hampshire on Lake Winnipesaukee. This year Jimmy Sullivans’ new Lip-Ship Edition 36’ Gladiator took the honors placing second. Lip-Ship Performance on the Small Screen

Lincoln Mercury selected a Lip-Ship Edition Cigarette for its upcoming advertising campaign for its Lincoln LS. Rob Shin's Rice Hauler will be featured in a nationally televised commercial. Lip-Ship Performance Achieves Honor for Cigarette

On Saturday, May 4, 2002 Phil accepted the award for Offshore Boat of the Year at Powerboat Magazine's 26th Annual Award for Product Excellence. This award, the most prestigious of the night, marks the first time a Cigarette earned this particular honor. The winning boat is the 2002 Lip-Ship Edition 46' Rough Rider owned by Frank Zamiello. This is Zamiello's 3rd Lip-Ship Edition Cigarette and 4th Cigarette. You can review the performance report on this extreme machine in the March 2002 edition of Powerboat Magazine.

The Awards for Product Excellence mark the culmination of the efforts of Powerboat Magazine to provide its consumers with sound information to make an informed purchase. Previously, in 1991 and 2001, Phil's Lip-Ship Edition Cigarettes won awards for Outstanding Offshore Workmanship. This year, however, the Lip-Ship Edition Rough Rider proved to meet the ultimate grade. As with all Lip-Ship Edition Cigarettes, the attention to detail in cosmetics, workmanship and performance engineering is unmatched. The magazine representatives acknowledged how Phil; Cigarette VP of Production, Neill Hernandez; and engine builder Richie Zul masterminded a product with the perfect combination of horsepower, drive heights, balance, gear ratio and propeller selection. Add to this performance formula the exquisite one-of-a-kind graphics by Harold Currier and Phil's attention to detail in the interior and you have an unprecedented boat that offers looks, acceleration, top-end speed, and maneuverability. Powerboat Magazine states, "We'd have a tough time imagining a better offshore performance boat". What's best of all is the Lip-Ship Performance customer gets this package deal along with personal sea trials and testing by Phil with every Lip-Ship Edition Cigarette. Pick up your copy of the June 2002 Powerboat Magazine with the Rough Rider on the cover, another first for Cigarette.

> Lip-Ship Performance on the Big Screen

The premier boats of Lip-Ship Performance emerge on the big screen in Ice Cube’s All About the Benjamin’s. This action-comedy was filmed on South Beach and at Spinnaker Marina, home of Lip-Ship Performance. You can catch glimpes of Ivan Rodriguez’ Grand Slam and Ralph Stanley’s, Wild Viking. The Midas, a 41’ Lip-Ship Edition Apache, becomes a “boat of choice” in the movie. But don’t leave before the credits roll – the closing scene of the movie features Tom Abraham’s Endangered Species as the ultimate status symbol. Phil spent three days filming with the crew and teaching Ice Cube how to drive a Cigarette. Ice Cube and co-stars thoroughly enjoyed their 90-mph celebration ride once filming was complete. One of the co-stars, Danielle Fulton, was also taught to drive a Cigarette by Phil for her duties on Playboy’s Extreme Powerboating Team. The movie is filled with laughs, great one-liners, and even some suspense. And as usual, the movie shows the Cigarette is far more desirable than any other performance boat. You can also catch Endangered Species in a special about Ice Cube in MTV. Stay tuned to MTV for additional coverage of making the movie and associated videos.

> Newest Lip-Ship VIP

14th Annual 2002 Island Extravaganza

A record 22 Cigarettes participated in the 14th Annual Lip-Ship Performance Island Extravaganza. The invitation-only, all Cigarette event got off to a soggy start on Saturday, February 9th , but Mother Nature changed her mood by sundown. The Extravaganza festivities included an endless buffet of gourmet creations (complete with live mermaids), live entertainment that took us to the islands of Hawaii and dancing to classic tunes. We awoke Sunday morning to a private Champagne Brunch. The Annual Pig Snout Award went to a deserving Rob Shin – past recipients include Tony Zagorski and Richard Fulton. By noon we were on our way back. Aerial photographers filmed the record-braking speed run back to Shucker’s in Miami where drinks and snacks awaited a hungry and sun-burned crowd. Once again it was a huge success for the Lip-Ship Performance patrons. 2002 Island Extravaganza Videos coming soon.

> 2001 Race Season Ends in Key West

The 2001 Rio Roses Cigarette Super Vee racing season came to a close in Key West, Florida. Lipschutz brothers, Phil and Milt, had a great start during the first race of the two-race World Championship series. As they set up their first turn of the fourth lap, however, their raceday performance was stopped. Planetman, who just lost the lead to Big Thunder Marine, illegally dove inside and careened sideways into the Rio Roses Cigarette. Superboat International race rules mandate catamarans to the outside lane of a turn and vee bottoms to the inside. The crash resulted in both race teams being knocked out of the running for the National and World Championships. Thankfully, the majority of damage to both hull and racers was superficial. The team at TNT Custom Rigging did a super job of repairing the Rio Roses Cigarette in time for raceday on Saturday. The damage albeit superficial, significantly impacted the handling of the boat on Saturday, but Phil and Milt raced again on Saturday to complete the series.

Team owner, Phil Lipschutz, expresses sincere thanks to the sponsors who helped make this season possible:

  • Tony Sarandes, Equiflor Corporation
  • Steven Gerowitz, Interiors by Steven G
  • Jim & Mikki Anderson, Zomax, Inc.

>Update from Lip-Ship Performance’s R&D – 9/19/01

Performance testing of the 2002 Lip-Ship Edition 46’ Cigarette Rough Rider is complete and results are quite impressive. The Rough Rider, designed from knowledge gained from the Rio Roses Cigarette Super Vee raceboat, is powered by twin, staggered 686 cubic inch Richie Zul engines that came out at 940 hp and 910 hp at the prop shaft. This boat cruises comfortably at 70 mph at nearly 3700 rpm - even in 10-foot seas. The Rough Rider achieved a top speed of 112 mph. Look for complete coverage of performance testing in Eric Colby’s report in Boating magazine. For more pictures see our new boat section.

First day results of testing of the newest 2002 Lip-Ship Edition Top Gun Twin Step powered by twin 625 horsepower, 560 cubic inch Zul engines exceeded expectations. Phil Lipschutz stated, “This is the finest riding Top Gun ever”. The new Top Gun achieved 97 mph on the GPS – 7 mph faster than expected. Cruising speed is 62 mph at 3500 rpm. Lipschutz described how speeds such as these were unheard of, especially in a Top Gun with Bravo drives and no superchargers. “These are practically stock motors achieving these results”, says Lipschutz who is thrilled with design efforts. This new Top Gun is equipped with Mercury’s new integrated steering system with a 7” set back allowing for improved handling in straightaways and in turns. Lipschutz reports, “At 97 mph the boat handled like it was on rails. It did not porpoise or chinewalk at all. You could have let go of the wheel.” Testing was completed with Cigarette’s Vice President of Production, Neill Hernandez. Lip-Ship Performance thanks Neill and his dedicated staff for their hard work over the last 8 months and thanks Richie Zul for working his magic once again. This new Top Gun will be featured in Cigarette’s booth at the 2001 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show October 25-29.

> Second Place!
Rio Roses Cigarette Super Vee earns 2nd place in the 2001 New York Superboat International Grand Prix.

Phil and Milt Lipschutz got off to an impressive start running 110.9 mph. They averaged 85.6 mph throughout the sloppy waters of the Hudson River. The team is really pleased with this finish since they competed against the largest fleet of super vees to date. Six super vees registered and five took the green flag. Rio Roses is also 2nd place in points for the National Championship. Attention is now focused on preparing for the next race in Nassau, Bahamas.

Michelle and Serge, throttleman and driver of the F-2 Cigarette Yachts International earned an awesome first place, beating all three Fountain competitors.

The crew and racers of the Rio Roses Cigarette team want to thank Tony Sarandes for the scenic tour of Manhattan Island in his 33' Lip-Ship Edition Café Open and Tom Abraham for the evening cruise in his luxurious 58' Viking. Tom also captained his yacht as the Rio Roses Sponsor Boat - he had a "crew" of 35 members on board to cheer for the team. Thanks also go to Associate Sponsors, Jim and Mikki Anderson of Zomax and Tony and Brett Zagorski of Rilco who came to New York to support the team.

The crew, racers and sponsors of the Rio Roses Cigarette Super Vee also extend heartfelt sympathies to all who were affected by the national tragedy only days after this race. We appreciate that we had an opportunity to see the New York skyline as it should always be remembered.

Pat Santa Maria accepting 1st Place Trophy

> Lip-Ship Edition Cigarettes Win Again

Lip-Ship Edition Cigarette owners, Pat Santa Maria of Worcester, MA and Rich Poilluci of Stoughton, MA, took first and second place respectively in the Fitzgerald Motorsports 2001 Performance Boat Show held in Laconia, New Hampshire on Lake Winnepesaukee. Over 40 performance boats entered the competition. Competitors represented Cigarette, Formula, Fountain, Sonic, Hustler, Donzi, Baha, Checkmate and Well Craft manufacturers. Hundreds of spectators serving as the judges surveyed the fleet of competitors. After viewing the paint, graphics, engines, interiors and workmanship of each competing boat, the votes were tallied and impressive trophies awarded.

Pat Santa Maria's 2002 Lip-Ship Edition 38' Twin Step Top Gun know as, No Joke, powered by Twin Mercury 500 EFIs earned the title of Best Boat. One of a kind Pearl Graphics picked by Pat's better half, Bridget, add to this boat's beauty. Bridget loves the graphics so much she had her nails painted to match and wore a matching swimsuit! This is Pat's first Cigarette and it's more than a step above the 28' Baja he owned previously.

Second place in the competition went to Rich Poilluci with his 2000 Lip-Ship Edition '38 Top Gun known as Smokin' Gun. Powered by Twin Mercury 500 EFIs, this boat was formerly MLB's Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez'. Rich is a long-time Cigarette owner and aficionado who prides himself on the upkeep of his equipment. Smokin' Gun is cleaner than most new boats and it beat out many 2002 boats for the 2nd place award.

Lip-Ship Performance wants to congratulate Pat and Rich for their wins and for continuing to represent us well across the country.

Rich Pollucci & Son with 2nd Place Trophy
